Chess is one of the oldest games in the world and it is assumed that the Origin of Chess is India and then spread over to the Arabian countries. The person who invented chess is not known. But the most commonly held belief is that chess is invented in a kingdom of INDIA.
The earliest form of modern chess is a game called chaturanga, which flourished in India by the 6th century, and is the earliest known game to have two essential features found in all later chess variations—different pieces having different powers, and victory depending on the fate of one piece, the king of modern chess. The original chess board was mathematically revolutionary, as reported by the infamous Wheat and chessboard problem.
A common theory is that India’s development of the board, and chess, was likely due to India’s mathematical enlightenment involving the creation of the number zero.
Below is a famous story related to origination of chess.
The Story
This story is around 1600 years old.
There was a king named Shihram ruled over India. He was a powerful but cruel king. Around this time a wise man invented the game of chess to show the importance of everybody, who lives in his kingdom, even the smallest among them.
The king on the chess board needs his queen, his rooks, bishops, knights and the pawns to survive. This is like in real life. The king should learn this.
Shihram, the king, understood this very well and he liked this game very much and he became a chess player and ordered that this game should be played by everybody in his kingdom.
